This series consists of chronological correspondence. The records are copies of letters sent by Superintendent of Indian Schools Hervey B. Peairs to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, other Office of Indian Affairs officials, the superintendents of various Indian schools, officials from various companies, and private individuals. The records include reports created by Peairs while visiting Indian schools, later submitted to the Office of Indian Affairs. Topics covered in the records include finance, educational instruction, and employment. The records include a letter written by Peairs requesting a transfer to serve as superintendent of Haskell Institute.
